The IRA lightning Sprints again were represented at the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Nationals this year 8/8/24 – 8/11/24 as Brian Strane Jr. made the trek to western Minnesota/Eastern North Dakota for the 4 day event. Attendance was down this year as the event drew 29 drivers vs. the 42 from last year, but there still were 7 states represented as drivers from Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan attended the event. Brian Strane Jr. would once again edge out Nick Petska and Mike Neau for quick time honors and establishing a new qualifying track record there at 12.639. The ILS visited Night 2 of the inaugural Fall Classic at Wilmot Raceway. Mike Neau set quick time of the night while John Kirk picked up Allstar Performance Heat 1 and Mark Heinert grabbed Rod End Supply Heat 2. The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints completed a successful Wisconsin doubleheader this past Memorial Day weekend May 28-29, going from northwest to northeast as they kicked off their weekend at the banked wide third-mile Rice Lake Speedway. IRA hadn't competed at Rice Lake since 2013. The cars ran 3-wide early and a nice crowd came out and welcomed the IRA 410's back. We regret to inform everyone the difficult and unwanted decision to cancel tonight's races at Wilmot Raceway has been made. The combination of poor weather outlook, already saturated grounds, cool temperatures, fuel prices and tire difficulties are the contributing factors to this decision. We hope to see everyone next week for the IRA / MOWA co-sanctioned show at Fairbury Speedway. This is truly one of the nicest and friendliest facilities in the country.
