About Scotty

Scotty Thiel began his racing journey at the age of six with ice oval snowmobiles in 1998 and transitioned over to go-karts in the summer of 1999. Racing quickly became his passion, and within ten years, he amassed numerous wins and championships. In 2008, he made a significant transition to full size winged sprint cars. On September 4th, 2009, Scotty achieved his dream of winning a sprint car feature.

In 1998, Scotty began racing on kitty cat snowmobile and gradually moved to faster snowmobiles, winning multiple championships and awards. He excelled in snowmobiles racing at various levels, starting off with kitty kat racing, where he earned several national and world championship victories. In 2006, Scotty and the team moved into the United States Snowmobile Association (USSA) Pro Star Series which was the highest level of ice oval racing in the world. He made great strides over the following few season where he won both championships in 2007, along with Most Improved Junior Driver of the Year, and in 2008, he won the Semi-Pro 600 Championship capping off his final year racing snowmobiles.

In kart racing, Scotty achieved success at both regional and national levels, showcasing his talent and versatility. He won three track championships and numerous wins over the course of the first five years of karting and then moved up into the regional and national levels in 2006. Scotty won several feature events on the Midwest Sprint Series tour of road course racing and then transitioned to oval track racing in 2007. Thiel won a WKA Hartland Pavement Tour Track Championship and was runner up in the WKA King of the Oval Championship point’s standings.

2008 marked a huge step into Scotty’s racing career when the team sold off all of the snowmobiles and go-karts and had their primary focus on winged sprint car racing. Scotty captured five heat race wins, two B-main wins, three top 5 A-main finishes, nine top 10 A-main finishes and the 2008 Plymouth Dir Track Rookie of the Year award all out of the young 16 year old driver. A sprint car A-main victory became reality for Scotty on September 4th, 2009 at the Manitowoc County Speedway. Over the next few years, the team began to travel and explore more of the Midwest sprint car scene picking up numerous wins in the 360 divisions. The team stepped up even more when they went strictly 410 racing in 2014 where they primarily focused on the Interstate Racing Association. Thiel accumulated over 35 wins from that point on and capped off four runner up championship points battles. The goal today for Scotty and the team is to travel at the highest levels possible for their team and partners. Traveling with the World of Outlaws, Allstar Circuit of Champions and other high profile events like the Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal. Scotty and team have proven their success and speed within those series and have the drive to accomplish a lifelong goal of be victorious within those series and events. Capping off the 2023 season, Thiel has now totaled 49 career sprint car victories and his hungry to achieve more.
